March 2025 Club Update

Hello Everyone,
And as quick as it came, it’s gone! But that certainly doesn’t mean the riding is over. Many have been traveling to other regions to get their riding in. Stories of these adventures were plentiful at our last monthly meeting at Bimbo’s Octagon last Thursday, March 20th. If you are a PathBlazers member, emails have been sent with this newsletter. The minutes of the March monthly meeting can be found on the website. Trail coordinator Joe McKenney and his crew have been putting long hours in clearing brush on some of trails that have not been touched over the last 2 seasons due to poor ice conditions and the lack of any grooming. Now that land permits have been completed, there will be a couple small trail re-routes that will be worked on over the summer months. April 1st is the official end of the snowmobile season, and all gates will be closed. Joe will be wrapping up the season with some equipment maintenance workdays, so please look for these emails with dates and times and contact Joe if you would like to assist. A big “Thank You!!” goes out to all of the members that worked so hard this year to make something out of next to nothing to make our riding enjoyable.
With the retirement of our current treasurer Erin Schirmer, we will be having a special nomination/vote for a new treasurer at our last monthly meeting of the ’24-’25 season on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Snickers Pizza in Chisholm, MN. Any member interested in this position will have to be present at this meeting. Erin will be working with the new treasurer to help in the transition. We are hoping many will be able to attend this final meeting and vote. Sorry, there will be no $100 vouchers for showing up to vote.
The Drift Skippers Snowmobile Club will be the host for the MnUSA Region 2 end of the season meeting on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at their facility in Grand Rapids, MN. This is a great time to get together with other clubs in our region to discuss all things related to our trails from a business and funding standpoint. The business meeting is from 3pm-5pm, with a social hour and a dinner after. Prez Dan Marich, Chair Jodi Olson and Trial Coordinator Joe McKenney will be going if you would like to also attend. RSVP is required. An email has been previously sent out with a schedule of events and a RSVP form. Great news so far from this year’s Minnesota Legislative session as a new bill sponsored by Senator Grant Hauschild of Hermantown would give snowmobile clubs a tax exemption on the purchase of equipment and materials needed to build and maintain state and grant-in-aid snowmobile trails. With today’s rising costs this would be a big help to ensure the future of our trails. Please encourage your local legislator to support this money saving measure.
Again, please join us for our next monthly meeting being held Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at Snickers Pizza in Chisholm for a Special Voters Meeting and the last meeting of the season. The meeting will start at 6:00pm. Let’s finish the year strong with nonperishable food items which will be donated this month to The Chisholm Food Shelf.
